You Again

When I picked it on the DVD store, I knew that I didn't make a wrong choice to pick it home :)

It's very nice, really. A very nice movie when my mood all screwed up, it's all because 'one thing I shouldn't have done'. You know, it's my very first week after my dirtiest and nastiest mistake ever. So when I watched this movie, I felt so related. Even I quoted some conversation from here.

So it's about Marni, who was a total dork and nerd on high school, complete with her big glasses, red pimples, and blunt bangs in the year of 2002, got bullied by the plastics on her high school. This, just here, I feel so related about the idea of many red pimples and dork. Aha. Me. Check.

Then many years passed, Marni turned to be a successful woman at a public relation firm, and one day she has to go back home to Ridgefield to attend her brother's wedding. All that she knows is her sister-in-law-to-be named Joanna, and she once confused when her mother told her that Joanna went to same high school that Marni went to. She felt she doesn't know any Joanna at Ridgefield High. But at last, she realized that Joanna is JJ, the head cheerleader and the leader of the plastics that bullied her back when she was in high school.

Tada. Nightmares has just begun.
Who wouldn't be shock if the satan of our life has just come back into our life?

When Marni came back to see her family, she could see that Joanna has stolen her whole life again, with the whole family--even her dog and her grandma-- loving Joanna, and Joanna acted like she doesn't remember Marni, which made Marni annoyed by that fact. But when Marni brought up how player Joanna was back in high school in front of Will, Marni's brother, Joanna set their situation up into war. They got into 'dance war', Joanna gave Marni a necklace of Marni's initial--MOO--, and Marni brought up Tim, Joanna's ex-fiancee, to Joanna and Will's rehearsal dinner, even played a video of Joanna back in high school, showing that she bullied her meanly. Joanna and Will's relationship was almost over, but it's a cliche girl movie so everyone would be happy with their lives and turned out okay; which I regretted because I want a non-happy ending, but it is a happy ending movie.

And, not just Joanna and Marni has just gotten into a fight, Marni's mother and Joanna's aunt went into a same high school and had some problems too, even their grandmothers.

But overall, it's a funny movie, perfect when you have a bad mood because when you see this, I guarantee that you will smile :)
I like the idea of "what's past is the past"; this movie kinda taught me that past doesn't have to be same with the present. People do can change, they can turned into better persons, and everybody deserves a second chance. Just don't escape or stuck with your past, just accept it while you're turning better, and don't be afraid or ashamed of what you have done, because we are all human and making mistakes is a part that we all have done.

Two stars out of five.
